I would say wait.

Nvidia Pascal (New Nvidia GPU's) are coming out this year. Supposedly in November-ish. So I would recommend wait. The prices of these Maxwell based cards could drop, or the new cards might be really really good too!

I know that's what I'm plannin' on doing!

390 is faster, if you can dish out the $$ for the 390X that's MUCH faster.

Overall. Google 390 vs 970 and 90% of articles prove 390 is faster.

want new pc tooo but waiting for the new release. 390 much better. The question is.. what card do you have now. Anything from the HD7900 series won't give you much extra. But to say again wait the cards now are not really build for higher resolutions like 1440 or 4k so when aiming for that in the future it will be a waste if you buy it now. Better than to buy some second hand upgrade.. and wait till q4 2016 .. long time.
