AMD are taking some time with the release of the 8000-series of graphics cards.
The 8000-series, however, will not be a new generation of AMD cards, but instead an OEM rebadge of the 7000-series.

A true GCN 2.0-based successor will be the 9000-series, rumored to come out in late 2013 or early 2014.

I guess us AMD fans just have to wait for the new generation of cards.

Wait, so basically a 8970 would equal the performance of a 7970?

That's pretty much pointless, why not just wait to release a new batch of cards instead of pushing out new shit that isn't really new?

GTX780, it's copy of the Titan just with a few slimmed down things like ram and Titan is not worth the price vs performance.

exactly.

Titan is $1000, 780 is $650. The choice is pretty obvious.

so I should get the 780 and not the radeon 7990? I have an amd cpu and what not will I see a performance hit by having an NVidia card with my amd cpu?

also I don't want to have to upgrade for several years after I make this large investment into a pretty expensive graphics card
